Somewhat of a surprise, but recall reading that Eddie never gave up the smoking even after he was treated for the cancer. Was not there so who knows, but another one gone...

What a fantastic talent that has been lost. Glad I got to see Van Halen live in their prime. The 1984 Tour was especially memorable. At the time with floor seats in the old SA Coliseum, I thought it was packed more than usual. Turns out the show sold out at the gate and the black t-shirt clad mob outside broke throught rhe massive window panes at ground level and entered. By the time the authorities showed, they allowed the show to go on in fear if what would happen if they shut it down and tried to throw everyone out.

RIP Eddie Van Halen
